The official handover ceremony of the Director’s office at the GTRCMC–EA took place on Thursday, 20th November 2025.

During the ceremony, the outgoing Director, Dr. Esther Munyiri, formally handed over leadership to the incoming Director, Dr. Albert Kariuki, marking a significant milestone in the Centre’s continued growth and strategic direction.

The occasion was graced by the Incoming Board Chair, Prof. Lucy Maina, and the Outgoing Board Chair, Prof. Simon Onywere, who both acknowledged the dedicated service and achievements realized under Dr. Munyiri’s leadership. They also expressed confidence in Dr. Kariuki’s vision and commitment to advancing the Centre’s mandate.

In her remarks, Dr. Munyiri reflected on the milestones achieved during her tenure and thanked the Board, staff, and partners for their unwavering support. Dr. Kariuki, in his acceptance remarks, reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening institutional capacity, fostering partnerships, and driving innovation in sustainable tourism resilience and crisis management across the region.

The Centre remains steadfast in its mission to promote resilience, research, and capacity building, and looks forward to this new chapter under Dr. Kariuki’s leadership.
