“Innovative Learning, Professional Development of Staff, and Academic Excellence” Event in Spain – 18th to 23rd November 2024
The 3IS Project team is currently gathered at the University of Girona, Spain, for a week-long event running from November 18 to November 23, 2024. Representing the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre – Eastern Africa (GTRCMC-EA) are senior researchers Dr. Moses Miricho, Mr. Ken Monari, and Miss Adelaide Momanyi, who are actively contributing to the discussions and initiatives.
This ongoing event is focused on bridging gaps in higher education by supporting less experienced Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in remote and underserved regions of Somalia, Ethiopia, and Kenya. It also aims to modernize approaches for more established HEIs, emphasizing staff development and academic excellence.
Aligned with GTRCMC-EA’s commitment to fostering resilience, innovation, and sustainable development, the event seeks to equip HEIs with the tools and strategies needed to address challenges unique to their contexts. Participants are collaborating to draft policy reports and action plans that will guide the adoption of innovative learning schemes introduced through the project.
As the event progresses, the outcomes will set a strong foundation for transforming higher education in Eastern Africa, driving forward GTRCMC-EA’s mission of regional stability, academic innovation, and socio-economic growth.
