On 28th January 2025, the Director and Researchers from GTRCMC-EA hosted fourteen Directors, Economists, Planners, ICT experts, and officers from the State Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism & Wildlife for a consultative meeting on leveraging ICT in tourism management & marketing.
The discussion focused on the use of ArcGIS in collecting, managing, and sharing geospatial data. ArcGIS is a powerful tool that enhances tourism product mapping, destination marketing, and decision-making through advanced spatial analytics.
πŸ›Β Kenyatta University is among the few institutions in Africa utilizing this cutting-edge technology. Since 2020, in collaboration with the Ministry, GTRCMC-EA has successfully used ArcGIS to package thousands of tourism products & experiences across the country.
🚨 Additionally, GTRCMC-EA is developing a Virtual Crisis Preparedness, Management & Recovery Centre using ArcGIS to strengthen tourism resilience by enabling real-time crisis monitoring, risk assessment, and rapid response planning.
