Global Bridges EA: Opening Doors to Global Opportunities: A Vision Becoming Reality

Since 2019, the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre – Eastern Africa (GTRCMC-EA), Kenyatta University, together with our esteemed partners, has been driven by one vision: to open up even the most remote regions of Eastern Africa to the world. From Turkana and Garissa in Kenya, to Puntland and Hargeisa in Somalia, and Gondar and Debark in Ethiopia, we have worked tirelessly to create pathways for internationalisation and opportunity.

Today, we are proud to witness this vision take shape. University leaders from these regions have travelled across Europe: Spain, and Greece, establishing strategic partnerships and signing transformative Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). Through EU funding under the Erasmus+ programme, young people from these communities will soon embark on 3–12 month exchange programmes in Europe.

These journeys will offer life-changing exposure, equipping our youth with global insights and networks to return and drive meaningful transformation in their home regions. This is just the beginning. We look forward to building even more powerful connections that empower communities and unlock the full potential of Eastern Africa.

Together, we are shaping a future of resilience, innovation, and hope.
